2003 Canberra Bushfires – (fire) storm damage in Pirier Pl, Chapman
Image Description:

Rivers ES members, Marco Dicceca (L) and Andrew “Tarlo” Tarlinton”  on top of a roof in Chapman about 2 days after the fire storm had been through, with a scorched Cooleman Ridge in the background.  Not only did the fire itself cause huge amounts of damage, but the fire storm itself generated its own weather system.  Damage from gale-force winds was wide spread and many residents reported tornadoes in both Chapman and Kambah that were strong enough to pick up whole gum trees and throw them.
