Rivers Unit Attends Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Incident in Hughes

Saturday, 28 June 2008

Rivers Unit was called out shortly after 5pm yesterday to attend the scene of an unexploded ordnance incident in the Canberra suburb of Hughes.

Rivers, and other ACTSES Units, assisted the Australian Federal Police in reinforcing an exclusion zone around the incident scene.  The night was relatively uneventful for the ACTSES, with the 5 members of Rivers concluding its operation at approximately 11:15pm.  This was the second event of a potentially explosive nature that Rivers Unit has attended in 2 weeks.
