In this photo, taken at Rivers Shed on a very cold, rainy, windy and snowy date in early(ish) Spring, Rivers SES members (L to R), Dave Satchell, Ali Kidd and Graeme Billett (who is looking coquettishly at the camera) practise rake-hoeing, a manual method of removing a swathe of ground fuels of about 30cm to a 1m wide, from around a grass fire to create a containment line. |
