Three Rivers SES volunteers, who are Defence / Defence Material Organisation (DMO) employees by day, were amongst 9 SES/ RFS vollies to be featured in the current issue of the Defence Magazine (Issue 2, 2009). The magazine Feature articles and cover page photo are great exposure for both the SES and the RFS both in the ACT and nationally, as the Defence Magazine has a national distribution and many of our serving and ex-military may find either volunteer service to be an ideal balance between military and civilian life.

Each of the included volunteers was interviewed about their Victorian bushfire experiences and their thoughts on how to achieve a “work/life balance”. The ACT volunteer inclusion was arranged by Benjamin Bryant who is a senior volunteer with Jerrabomberra Bushfire Brigade. Eamon Parker, from Rivers Bushfire Brigade, was also one of the volunteers included.
