ACT Taskforce No. 6 En Route to Daylesford

Sunday, 1 March 2009

As weather conditions once again begin get hotter and windier in Victoria, with the day of the worst fire conditions expected next Tuesday, the ACT’s sixth taskforce is tonight en route to the Victorian town of Daylesford to assist in the massive fire fighting operation in southern Victoria, starting first thing tomorrow.  Amongst that crew are two Rivers members; Rivers Unit Deputy Commander, Bec and one of our Deputy Team Leaders, Sarah Harman, who are being deployed to provide logistics support to the sizeable ACT contingent.

Taskforce 5 (TF5) is due back in Canberra tomorrow afternoon.  Rivers Equipment Officer, Don Roach, is the Logistics Manager for TF5 and Colin Pedersen is undertaking ICT support.

Even now preparations are underway for a seventh taskforce that is anticipated to leave on Wednesday and return on Sunday.

For a place with such a relatively small population of just over 322,000, Canberra is doing very well to keep the taskforces rolling!  Well done all!
