Wednesday, 10 September 2008

Rivers Unit has sent one air observer, James Goodwin, to Queensland as part of a 13 member strong ACT State Emergency Service (SES) taskforce, that is assisting Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) in the massive air search for the missing yacht 'Blessed Be'.  'Blessed Be' was reported missing on Thursday, 4th September 2008 after it failed to arrive at Brisbane (QLD) from Noumea.

The ACTSES taskforce, which was the second sent by the ACT for this search, met at Canberra Airport at 4:45am on Tuesday, 9th September where they departed the capital on a special flight chartered by AMSA.  They stayed in Coolangatta overnight and recommenced their search at first light today.
