Delegated Powers

ACT Emergencies Act 2004

When activated and placed on duty by their Commander, ACT SES volunteers have certain powers under the ACT Emergencies Act 2004 that have been delegated to them by the ACT Chief Officer.  SES Commanders, Deputy Commanders and Team Leaders have slightly more powers delegated to them than SES team members.

Australian Road Rules

Under the Australian Road Rules (Division 3, Rule 304), and in specific circumstances, a suitably trained SES member may be empowered as an 'Authorised Person'.  The ACTSES is trained by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) ACT Policing in traffic marshalling.
